The world in which we live purses us from our earliest days in a kind of romance, trying to convince us that it will fulfill all of our desires. But, it is a liar! The romance of the world seduces us to believe that its enticements will bring us lasting satisfaction and the love we desire, but it does not. It teases and tempts and promises so much but once we begin to believe that it speaks truth, it wraps us in chains and walks away, leaving us empty, alone, broken, hurt, and disillusioned....

At the age of 5, I was fitted for my first pair of glasses, a pair of blue cat-eyes, that announced to the world that there was something wrong with me. People seemed to think that wearing them made me a legitimate target for teasing and taunts. But as hard as it was to be picked on and singled out, I needed those glasses to see. Without them I couldn't really function. Over the years, I learned to be comfortable with how God created me, weak eyes and all, and now that I wear trifocals, it's just another part of who I am. My glasses are what I need to help me get along in this world....

This book came into being as a gentle prompting by the Holy Spirit. One cold November day, I heard the Lord speak in my mind. "Write," He said. "Write what?" I asked, but heard no answer. Two weeks later, I again heard His voice say, "Write." This time I realized that He was preparing me for something, and that He would show me what He had planned for me in His own time.
